Taping the Jr Iditarod In Alaska!

Teens age 14-17 years old competed in a 150 mile roundtrip dog race for scholorship funds and many wonderful prizes!   4 total checkpoints include one mandatory 8-10 hour layover at the Yentna Station Roadhouse.  Fresh snow made for a good trail and an exciting race for all!  This was our first experience with the Jr Iditarod Race and we were very impressed with the teens, their dogs and the volunteer network that made it all happen - very fun!! This episode will definitely be a highlight of our 2011 series!  Be sure to check Larry's Facebook link for pics!

We're heading to Fairbanks tomorrow for another popular winter event - the World Ice Art Championships!  We'll check in again from the Interior where temp's will dip to single digits at night......burrrrrr!

Glad we have younger people getting into sled racing to keep the Last Great Race the Iditarod alive I myself sled race but I sprint race with an eight dog team but this season I got a messed up knee and missed the whole season but I should be ready by next season. I live in Kentucky, love your shows and good luck in everything you do.
