Dolphins Win Super Bowl VIII With 6 Completed Passes

Super Bowl VIII was exactly 41 years ago this Tuesday. Following a perfect season, and three straight visits, the Dolphins won their 2nd straight Super Bowl. Of Course we are very partial here to the running game, so a glaring statistic stood out to us. There were only 35 passes thrown in the entire game, from both teams combined. This is a stat unheard of in today’s game. Out of the 35 total passes, 7 attempts and 6 completions came from the Dolphins, only one of those coming in the second half. Fast forward 40 years to Superbowl XLVII to find game MVP Joe Flacco passing 22-of-33 for 287 yards and 3 TDs.
