THE GUN DEBATE

I just purchased shares of Dick’s Sporting Goods stock today after hearing Ed Stack, CEO, was brave enough to take definitive steps with his company to make a positive impact on our national gun dilemma.

His dedication to the safety of our children is, in my opinion, to be applauded.  

I am an avid outdoorsman.  I have hunted game, enjoyed fishing and the outdoors all my life and I support the 2nd Amendment.  But, I believe, critical steps need to be taken on gun control – background checks, higher age limits and the restriction of military-style semiautomatic weapons and removal of devices that turn semiautomatic weapons in to automatics.  More attention to mental health and educating our youth on gun violence and gun safety is equally important to me.

I believe Mr. Stack’s actions speak volumes about how we, the sporting public, can start to truly address this problem and show we care.
